– Brain Sculptures –

After making some rough drawings I decided to start creating them in 3D. For this I used a mixture of programmes such as Blender and Mudbox (A programme usually used for 3D printing). This was a process which took a long time compared to physically sculpting them and required me to focus more on learning how to code and animate, something which before I only had a little knowledge of. I started off by creating the first drawing I made, and it was actually pretty easy to do, especially with Mudbox’s symmetry tool which allowed me to sculpt one side and recreate it on the other so that it was perfectly the same. I spent the majority of the term creating these sculptress and exploring how the cold be made and the textures I could use.

When it came to textures, I experimented with a bunch of different images and brush sizes in order to explore what looked interesting and aesthetically correct when it came to a natural dispersion. I chose textures which were diverse and different so that I could experience how each looked and also because it gave each brain a different personality depending on the image used.
