Before starting to create some different types of brains in Blender I decided to do some drawings and plans just to get some ideas of how they could look. This consisted of small rough drawings that visually discussed shape and size as well as possible texture. I tried to keep to some rules about how they should look just to stop myself from making them so abstract that they were no longer readable as being brains.
These rules consisted of:
- Symmetry (As brains are symmetrical on each side
- Natural shapes and textures (Avoid anything too mechanical looking)
- Diverse but not too dissimilar (So they can work as a series)
- Being brain sized and readable as a brain or at least a natural organ even if not necessarily himan
